feedback: I received a great tour of Mumbai city highlights and Dharavi on 12/24. My guide, Tauseef, was very professional, on-time, and knowledgeable about city sights and Dharavi industries. The entire day was very enlightening and the slum tour was the highlight of my trip to Mumbai. My friends were amazed at all that I got to see and do in only 6 hours spent in the city. Thank you, Be The Local tours!

feedback: I visited Dharavi back in August and used the services of Be the Local. I was really impressed with their professionalism from making the booking right through to the follow up afterwards to see if I had enjoyed the tour. My guide was Zeeshan. Not only was he warm, friendly and welcoming, but he was really knowledgeable about Dharavi, its history and its industries which was exactly what I was after. I was also hugely impressed with his English. The tour went through areas such as the recycling plants, leather and soap industries, bakery etc. The area that interested me the most was the housing. It amazed me how entrepreneurial people are and how genuinely happy they are. Everyone wanted to shake my hand or give me a hi-5 and I had a really fantastic time. I completely recommend both Be the Local and Zeeshan's services and thank them for a really memorable experience.

feedback: One of the best and most interesting experiences as a tourist ever! Totally worth it! We had a private tour, which I very much recomend. The guides are exellent and very friendly. They have an answear to anything you might have to ask.

I am so happy we chose to use "meet the local" as our guide in Mumbai. Could not have been more lucky.

feedback: The tour was extremely eye-opening for me. I had mixed feelings about the things I saw: I felt very fortunate when i saw just how hard people work in the slum, I was impressed at the sophistication of the industry there, and i felt a feeling of admiration and even wonder to see how so many people can live so closely through amazing cooperation and understanding and patience. I feel that your tours could challenge and alter the perceptions of many tourists, and Indian people too.

feedback: This is definitely one of the most impressive visits in Mumbai. I have watched "Slumdog Millionaire" for some reasons in the past, but my understanding towards the Slum was not going beyond. However, through this trip, my original thought towards Slum has completely broken down, and I had an impression that Slum takes important parts in the entire Mumbai community/industries and this cannot be detached. I am very happy to realize/understand that.

And also, even I'm back on Japan, I sometimes reminded the children's smiles, friendliness and, at the same time, their earnest. To walk, talk, eat and feel on the ground is much more than a movie. (of course, that movie is one of the great movies which I have ever seen though!)

One of Japanese proverbs says that, 百聞は一見に如かず, "One look truly is better that a hundred words" - this is it and the realty is THERE! I truly recommend this tour to our friends in the world!

feedback: We recently had the opportunity to tour the slums of Dharavi with Fahim Vora. It was right out of National Geograpic! After seeing a program about the slums of Dharavi on NatGeo or the Travel channel we knew we had to find a way to go visit this area while we were in town for just a day and a half while on a cruise ship. This ended up being the highlight of our cruise. Fahim couldn't have made us feel more comfortable, safe and at ease while touring the slum for 3 1/2 hours in the heat. It had to have been around 90-95 degrees F, and what felt about 98% humidity. I have never sweated so much in my life as I did that day, but it was all worth it! To see the people working together (something I didn't expect to see) and to hear the little children greet us with a friendly smile and a "Hello" just made us feel very welcomed. We learned and saw so many interesting things from the incredible recycling program, to the handbags and luggage factories and.... to see the people how happy they were. We could ask Fahim anything, and he was very up front and open with the answers. Another thing I expected to see were beggars everywhere, there was not a one, everyone was working together, from the ragpickers to the shop and factory owners. However one thing that saddened us was, we brought along about 20 frisbees to pass out to the children of Dharavi and as we got out of our air-conditioned SUV the "migrant" workers surrounded us and tried to grab our bag from us and Fahim very respectfully told them to leave and grabbed the bag back and he put it in the car, so we were unable to pass out these gifts to the children. It is these migrant workers that one needs to be more aware of, not inside the slum area , they were so kind and never ever did we feel threatened. We thank you Fahim for a most enjoyable tour, good luck to you and your partner as well as your families. May the future of your business be successful!

idea: 1) Show the madrasah as part of the tour
                      2) promote the leather industry by showing the shops selling these products to the tourists.

                      Hope that helps. Good luck!
